Our volunteers come from all over the U.S. and Canada! Many volunteers have been a part of AHIHA for over 30 years! Some are former players, parents, and others are educators, interpreters as well as college and professional coaches! Every one of our volunteers has a story to tell!

All volunteers – including interpreters, coaches, on and off ice staff MUST register with USA Hockey. There are specific requirements for coaches that are different from other volunteers.

USA HOCKEY REQUIREMENTS for Coaches and Volunteer Staff

Coaches:

USA Hockey has changed the Coaching Requirements for the 2021-2022 season. Please adhere to the following five requirements:

  1. Registration: All coaches must have a 2021-2022 USA Hockey Registration confirmation number. Visit https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action to register.
  2. Coaching Clinics: Clinics are only offered September to December so don’t miss out. Be sure to register and attend the next level Coaching Certification Clinic during that time. To register for a clinic. View http://www.usahockey.com/page/show/893040-coach-clinic-login for a list of clinics in your area. You can only attend one clinic per season.
  3. Age Specific Modules: The online age specific modules for the age level of play you are coaching must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and you cannot be added to a roster until completed. Please be sure to complete the Age Specific Module for the group you are coaching and if you plan to coach at AHIHA you must also complete the Disabled Module.   4. Safe Sport Training: All volunteers are required to complete the Safe Sport Training with USA Hockey. Please visit http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining for details.
  5. Screening: All coaches are required to complete the NCSI National Screening process. Please visit http://www.usahockey.com/page/show/1327747-affiliate-background-check and proceed with the screening process.

Please send your USA Hockey Registration number, coaching level, modules completed, Safe Sport completion certificate and your Screening report to karen@ahiha.org once completed.
