Enrollment Requirements
To enroll in the Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Hearing Impaired, the following requirements must be met:
- Participants must have at least a 50% hearing loss in each ear.
- Applicants (other than beginners) must have some experience in organized hockey.
- The minimum age for participation as freshmen is eight years old. There is no age limit for beginners.
- All applicants must submit an application questionnaire and, a recent audiogram (within one year) before admission to the school will be considered.
- All players must own full hockey equipment. AHIHA will provide players with a team jersey, for use during the school, and two hockey sticks.
- A new player, under 21 years of age, must be accompanied to the school by a parent or close adult relative. Special circumstances can be discussed on an individual basis.
- Players attending the school from outside the Chicago area must pay for room and meal charges. If not financially feasible, parents may request additional support.
